Everything Aly was in charge of turned out great. She was the fun one, taking the kids on fun walks, setting up the swing, climbing on logs, etc.
Everything I was in charge of was fairly crappy.
First off, I missed the turn-off to Mt. Graham. Whoops.
Next, we're setting up camp and want to get dinner started, and the stove I borrowed doesn't fit with the propane tanks I brought.
Not a problem, we'll just cook things on the fire... oh, wait, my "boof" (fire starting gun) runs out of boof. (Oh, don't you worry, there were friendly campers near by who let us borrow one.)
Next night, Hooray! I found the adapter to connect the camp stove with the propane tank - fires were getting difficult because I had told Aly we didn't need to bring the saw, and we did, but, the stove still didn't work.
Lastly, I thought it might be nice to pack up right after dinner and spend the night at home in our own comfy beds. That led to driving down a steep, winding road in the dark and 3 of the 5 kids getting carsick and throwing up, Oakley leading the way.
Regardless, it WAS fun and now I'm better prepared, and think I'll be better at it next time.
Sorry for that long monologue, here are the pictures:
I told you Aly was fun! (Oh, and she's one of those "pretty" campers.)

You went camping on Mt. Graham? I'm so jealous. That's where my Grandma's cabin is.
Sarah, I bet you're a "pretty" camper too. Either that or you're a super ugly camper and that's why there's no pictures of you. Hopefully Alyson took some! Just kidding.
What fun moms!
Seriously memories from Strawberry came flooding back while I was reading your post! Getting attacked by black gnats, Trevor breaking the lantern, spilling Hawaiian haystacks in someone's tent. Oh the memories.
I'm so proud of you. It does bring back Strawberry memories to me too. Those were the days, my friend! The fact that you figured out a way to stay over night means that you are successful at camping. It probably is a good thing that you didn't know that Marie's Grandma has a cabin up there though.
I absolutely love Mt. Graham! Lots of fun memories there! I'm pretty impressed that you two took the kids without any men! Very impressive!
I thought camping was a total success! We'll just be a little more prepared next time with moth balls to fight off the bears and whatnot. I'm glad that Emily remembers funny/disasterous things happening while camping - that makes me feel better about our experience! Thanks for going and being the party! Can't wait for next year!
You are so amazing to take all the kids camping without husbands. Looks like you guys had fun and can I just say I hate pretty campers and I hate pretty girls who just give birth in the hospital.
That looks like so much fun! You guys are totally going to be the fun moms that go and take their kids on fabulous trips. They will love every second of it. Dito on Emily's comment it totally made me think of Strawberry and going down that windy road in the back of the blue truck thinking I was going to die with everyone while eating popsicles. I think I was really young because I promise I remember Chris being there.
