An Update, Finally.

Melvi, my dad, sassed me for not posting, ever, so here I go.

As for me, not much new, except my sexy body. It resembles the Grinch these days.

................................................

Okay, those of you that hate posts on kids, stop reading now. It's all I have to possibly talk about though.
.................................................

Oakley turned 2!

We're going to do a tag on him to so we can maybe see some progression in his little life.

20 months ago he:

1. was 4 months old and looked like a lizard/bird, but I thought he was adorable.
2. was rolling over.

3. enjoyed eating his toes.

10 months ago he:

1. was growing his beard for Halloween.
2. was walking pretty steadily on his own.

3. was still having serious issues with eating textured food. He gagged on anything with the slightest lump and didn't have enough teeth to really chew anything.

5 months ago he:

1. was 19 months old was LOVING nursery; still does thank goodness.

2. learned about time out.

3. put together his first sentence, "Mommy, I nunny (funny), huh?" What?

3 months ago he:

1. lived in time out. (I put the lock on the outside of the door. Arrest me.)

1 month ago he:

1. was almost two and being a sweetie pie.

2. went on lots of bike rides.

3. went camping for the first time.

4. taught himself to swim, kindof. He's a bit stubborn and doesn't want any help. I can't wait for the teenage years.

5. got his 1 year molars.

6. found a "drinking fountain" (air conditioning run-off hose) at grandma's and uses it all the time. Is there a vaccine for meningitis?

So far this month he:

1. turned 2.

2. attempted potty training.

3. has repeated every single word I've said.

4. rode his new bike 1000 miles.

yesterday he:

1. hung out with Dad all day while I went to Tucson for my cousin's shower.

2. bought me this awesome computer with dad as a peace offering for wrecking my laptop.

(yeah, have no idea how to use it so I'd love advise.)

today he:

1. was good in church. Hallelujah!

2. learned about family prayer in nursery and actually colored his picture instead of just being the crayon Nazi.

3. took a nap.

4. went to Grandpa and Grandma's and played with Bruce.

tomorrow he:

1. will go to Grandma's again and play with Bruce and go swimming.

2. probably won't eat, because he's anorexic.

in the next year he:

1. will get potty-trained, if we're lucky.

2. will maybe get some more teeth and maybe actually swallow food instead of chewing and spitting it all out.

3. will become a brother and like it. :)

in 3 years he:

1. will be 5 and maybe starting kindergarten, maybe not though, we might wait a year.

2. will be potty trained, no "if we're lucky", if not he'll be one of those weird kids who wears tucked in sweats with light-up Sponge Bob teva's.

in 5 years he:

1. will be 7 and probably be missing most of his teeth and incredibly awesome looking.

2. might be into sports.

3. will not want me planning his life.

Excuses, Excuses...

So, I know I haven't had a sense of humor lately.

I know I want just want to sleep all the time.

I haven't been commenting to any of you, and haven't had anything comment worthy to say either.

Sorry.

I hope you'll see fit to excuse my cranky behavior/attitude.

See?

Thanks for your understanding. I think I might be back to my normal self in a few weeks. Okay?

A-Camping We Will Go....

This week, my sister Alyson and I took all the kids camping. Fun. Five kids 9 and under, wow! We had so much fun playing and camping, but we realized that we were inexperienced in the "incharge" role and it's lots harder to camp when you're the mom.

Everything Aly was in charge of turned out great. She was the fun one, taking the kids on fun walks, setting up the swing, climbing on logs, etc.

Everything I was in charge of was fairly crappy.
First off, I missed the turn-off to Mt. Graham. Whoops.
Next, we're setting up camp and want to get dinner started, and the stove I borrowed doesn't fit with the propane tanks I brought.
Not a problem, we'll just cook things on the fire... oh, wait, my "boof" (fire starting gun) runs out of boof. (Oh, don't you worry, there were friendly campers near by who let us borrow one.)
Next night, Hooray! I found the adapter to connect the camp stove with the propane tank - fires were getting difficult because I had told Aly we didn't need to bring the saw, and we did, but, the stove still didn't work.
Lastly, I thought it might be nice to pack up right after dinner and spend the night at home in our own comfy beds. That led to driving down a steep, winding road in the dark and 3 of the 5 kids getting carsick and throwing up, Oakley leading the way.

Regardless, it WAS fun and now I'm better prepared, and think I'll be better at it next time.

Sorry for that long monologue, here are the pictures:

I told you Aly was fun! (Oh, and she's one of those "pretty" campers.)
Rissa and her elf house. She had all sorts of camping neighbor boys wandering by to check her out.
Oak and Brynn. Brynn is a pretty camper too.
Oakley loving the lake, and garbage he picked up.
Bells demonstrating how to use the swing. She discovered how to kick off the retaining wall and tree to keep herself going.Lizzie playing with "Fuzzy" the catepillar we found. BTW, Liz is hilarious to sit and listen to.
Brynn and Oak. I think Oakley looks like an Ewok here.
Oh, peach cobbler is delicious. I forgot that that did turn out.

And then this, again. It's a little hard to type this way.CPS be on alert.

Bonk.

Just to let you know, I am up for watching kids, anytime. I love for Oak to have someone else to play with.

The caveat.... I'm not so good at it. If you take me up on my offer, you might want to invest in one of these.

Poor Brynn, fell while climbing into the crib and bonked her eye. It immediately swelled up and turned purple. She now has a nice black eye to remember what fun she had at my house.
The upside is I'm as good at watching your kid as I am mine, meaning I'll treat them like my own. Oakley fell while getting off the trampoline and got a good scrape and goose egg. It matches his bruise on his eyelid that I don't even know what it's from. So, call me anytime!

The Excitement Continues!

So the lack of posts lately is not due to nothing going on, I've had a ton going on:

Senior dinner
Being Melissa's patient (she's fantastic by the way)
Scheduling windshield replacements
Learning more about dental implants
Camp stuff

But luckilly, I've had time for my big, big concerns:

I figured out how to take down the fruitfly empire that colonized in my garbage from the banana peels. You see, not being trained in the exterminating field, I would get frustrated whenever I pulled out the garbage and all these disgusting little flies would fly out. I would swing my arms frantically trying to swat some of the varmins. Finally, I figured out to leave the garbage out for a while and then douse it with Raid. It worked. Hooray! Seriously it only took me maybe 2 weeks.

I also learned about this fantastic website. Some lame, some hilarious. Definately worth looking at when you're at work, trying to look busy. I think this one was titled "ideal man." Enjoy.
And of course, what could keep me busier than cleaning up after this little guy?

Happy Hot Tuesday!
