Recommendations Requested.

I have a little problem. It's called a mole.
Well, it's not so much the mole, it's that Oakley is infatuated with it. It's on my shoulder, and every chance he gets, Oak is searching for it.

It's not that he searches for it that's the problem either. It's the fact that he's named it that really bothers me.

It's name is Josh. I don't know why, or where that came from. One day he was standing behind me while I was sitting on the couch and said, "Josh" as he pushed on my mole. Now, any chance he gets, he's searching for it, says, "Hi, Josh," "Bye, Josh," and talks about Josh.

It's gotta stop. Josh has got to go.

So, here's my question:

Can a regular doctor take off moles or does it have to be a dermatologist? I had a couple of moles (yes, just call me Tortilla) taken off 10-ish years ago and the doctor was very thorough, but left Frankenstien-like scars. Not that anyone is looking at my shoulder or anything, but I would just prefer not to have big-old scars.

Thanks for your input.

I'm almost positive it has to be a dermatologist. And I don't think you can really avoid the scar. It is what it is.

I do happen to know a really good dermatologist, my brother. Benjamin LeSueur. He works out of a place up in Scottsdale on Shea.

Unfortunately I can give you lots of advice on this one. First don't go to the regular doctor to have a mole removed. Don't believe me? I'll show you the handy work of having one removed that way. Dermatologists are okay but still, the scar will be a good one. A Plastic Surgeon is the only way to go. My dermatologist recommended one to me. She mentioned his sweet mole removing skills and went on and on about his looks, she said it's just a perk to the visit. I think she totally has a crush on him. Whatever. Mole removal is his true calling in life. I can give you his name if you want it.

So we, the chocolate chip Jones family, usually go to Dr. Ponitch. He is like on Dobson and Southern. Good side - he has tons of trashy magazines to read but I have only seen old people there, he is never busy so you can get in in a few days, he even takes cash. Bad side - he is kind of an old man but he did a good job on all of us..

He named it? That would cause me severe self-esteem issues too. And I would go with the plastic surgeon guy because IDK what Emily is talking about Ponitch leaves really big scares. You might as well pay for it to not have a scar if you can.

Oh mY Heck sara! you crack me up! i did get one removed before i got married once and it was from a dermatologist and his reaction to my mole was enough for me to recommend a plastic surgeon....they still might say, in a voice like they have never seen something so hidious before..."oohhhh my GOSH, we DO HAVE TO GET THAT OFF!" or in your case they may say "oh my Josh!" heehee! hasta manana!

Hey "cookie mama" can I too have the name of that hott plastic surgeon? I'm being serious, my husband has bad mole removal scars.

I used to have a hair on my bicep that would grow to about an inch long. My family members would always try to pull it out, but I kept it to gross them out. I named it Ernie, so I think Oakley is totally normal. :)

So I did go to a regular doctor and he removed a mole on my back, right there in the office. When I gave my nieces and nephews swimming lessons one year, one of them screamed bloody murder "There's a bug on your back!!!" No kidding, so I thought it was time to have it removed. I think it just depends on the docter.
